The Volkswagen ID.3 line-up has been updated for the 2022 model year to introduce even more versions eligible for the £2,500 Plug-in Car Grant
Volkswagen is updating the ID.3 model line-up for the 2022 model year to broaden customer choice and introduce even more variants eligible for the £2,500 government Plug-in Car Grant.
Described as a “major price revision”, two more models are eligible for the grant, taking the total number of Plug-in Car Grant-eligible VW ID.3 to six.
The two new sub-£35,000 versions are the ID.3 Family Pro (£33,640, which drops to £31,140 after the grant) and Family Pro Performance (£34,960, or £32,460 post-grant).
Volkswagen has renamed the previous budget version, called City, to Life – and discontinued Busines and Tech variants.
“The battery electric vehicle segment is rapidly evolving and our ID family of net-carbon-neutral electric vehicles is moving with it,” said VW UK director Andrew Savvas.
“In particular, the ID.3 range is peerless in the breadth of its offering, with several models now available for under £30,000.
“The aim of the price revision is to maintain the car’s long-term competitiveness in the fast-moving sector.”
Volkswagen has also increased customer choice for both the ID.3 family hatch and ID.4 family SUV line-ups.
Previously, trims were pre-configured, with only colours and wheels being customisable.
Now, customers can choose to add a series of options packs onto each variant – such as picking an augmented reality head-up display on more mainstream models (previously it was restricted to the range-topping Max and Tour).
Volkswagen says it allows customers to choose any trim level and build on additional options packs to “cater to their individual needs”.
