Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, has announced a new electric crossover SUV. The GV60 promises comfort and efficiency.
Genesis, the dedicated new luxury brand from Hyundai, has announced details of its new all-electric GV60.
The bold crossover SUV is the first clean-sheet electric vehicle to be sold by the Korean marque.
The GV60 shares its Electric-Global Modular Platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 electric SUVs.
To ensure the GV60 maintains an upmarket image, Genesis has given it styling elements similar to the rest of its model range.
These include the distinctive split headlight design, with a subtle V-shape found in the widened front grille. The bonnet of the GV60 uses a ‘clamshell’ opening, the first time this has appeared on a Genesis model.
At the rear, the GV60 is meant to evoke a coupe, with a flowing roof and kicked-up rear spoiler. Digital door mirrors are used to offer a sleeker side profile.
On the inside, the GV60 is said to ‘emphasise the beauty of white space’. Genesis says the cabin is spacious and luxurious, with a premium feel.
Star of the show is a crystal sphere, which appears to float in the centre console. This is used to electronically control the transmission, and even has mood lighting to match the interior.
Technical details of the GV60 are yet to be confirmed, but are expected to be similar to the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The GV60 will become the second electrified Genesis model for Europe, following the launch of the G80 electric saloon. More details will be announced closer to the GV60 entering production.
