Volvo has expanded the line-up of XC40 Recharge EV versions – and now allows customers to buy online and subscribe to flexible monthly packages
The Volvo XC40 Recharge EV line-up has been expanded with the addition of three versions: Twin, Twin Plus and Twin Pro.
Prices start from £49,950 and each version uses the same 78kWh battery for a range of up to 259 miles.
The XC40 Recharge is ready to use 150kW DC fast chargers, for a zero-to-80% charge in 40 minutes.
There are two electric motors which produce a combined 408hp – good for 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Volvo is also offering the compact EV SUV via its Care by Volvo subscription scheme: a fixed three-year rental is from £619 a month, with fully-flexible rolling three-month subscriptions from £769 a month.
The firm expects 95% of retail customers to use Care by Volvo subscriptions – which include servicing, wear-and-tear maintenance, replacement tyres and roadside assistance cover.
Company car drivers, meanwhile, enjoy a 1% Benefit in Kind rate, meaning higher-rate taxpayers will have to fork out just £16.63 a month in company car tax.
The entry-level XC40 Recharge Twin, priced at £49,950, features the new Volvo Android-based infotainment system with 9.0-inch touchscreen.
It also includes 19-inch alloys, automatic LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, power tailgate, rear parking sensors and wireless smartphone charging.
The XC40 Recharge Twin Plus is £52,950 and adds rear parking camera and front parking sensors, heated electric front seats (and heated rear seats), and an onboard heat pump that helps optimise the EV range when it’s particularly hot or cold.
Volvo’s range-topping XC40 Recharge Twin Pro is £56,700 and includes Volvo Pilot Assist autonomous assist tech, panoramic roof, 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound, premium leather and nubuck upholstery and, on the outside, 20-inch alloys.
Kristian Elvefors, Volvo Car UK MD, said: “With the XC40 Recharge, we are showing how choosing a pure electric Volvo does not mean any sacrifice or compromise in the technology or useability that Volvo customers expect.
“We’ve ensured the specifications provide high levels of comfort, safety, connectivity and practicality, while the battery electric powertrain has the capacity to cover long distances, with quick recharging.
“Our Care by Volvo subscriptions are also an easy and convenient way for people to access the car they want with complete peace of mind.”
