Switch Live: new EV event set for Silverstone in 2022

Switch Live is an all-new event to showcase EVs and sustainable mobility to a mainstream consumer audience

A new EV event called Switch Live will launch at Silverstone in 2022 aiming to showcase the exciting world of electric cars to a mainstream consumer audience.

Switch Live will run from 26-29 May 2022 at the Silverstone Wing, located alongside the world-famous Grand Prix circuit.

Companies will be able to showcase cars both in an indoor exhibition space and dynamically on road and track.

The organisers say they are focused on delivering the biggest ‘bang for buck’ for both exhibitors and guests alike, and create a show that is “truly experiential and fun for visitors”.

What’s more, they’re also hoping it will become the very first carbon-neutral event to be held at Silverstone.

“We have taken feedback from many car manufacturers and other auto sector businesses who are increasingly looking at alternatives to mainstream international motor shows – both because of the very high costs involved, and because of the growing recognition that static vehicle displays are ineffective for engaging with potential customers,” said Switch Live commercial director Giles Brown.

“Switch Live will not be an echo chamber for EV-evangelists. It will appeal to a large proportion of consumers – not least because of the planned ban of new petrol and diesel vehicle sales in the UK from 2030.

“Crucially, it will make EVs and other forms of electrified personal transport truly accessible to the growing legion of motorists who simply want to better understand, experience and potentially commit to new technologies and make the shift away from the internal combustion engine.”

Silverstone Circuits MD Stuart Pringle added: “Silverstone is determined to lead the race to a sustainable future and Switch Live at Silverstone will provide families with an enlightening, engaging, entertaining and – critically – informative motoring experience, like never before.”
