Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken out at why he owns a Nissan Leaf and is so excited about the future of EV motoring
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed he has owned a Nissan Leaf EV for three years and is now 100% committed to a fully-electric driving future.
He has worked with Nissan to film an entry into the ‘My Life with a Nissan Leaf’ series – which has been released ahead of the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday 29 May.
“One of the main reasons for choosing an EV was to reduce my impact on the environment,” said Guardiola.
“A car is a key element in people’s daily lives. By adopting more environmentally friendly mobility, like electric vehicles, we can make a big impact on our planet.
“Zero-emission driving is one of the best courses of action for a better and more sustainable future.”
The Premier League-winning manager is now keen to encourage the next generation of EV drivers “as they are so much more fun to drive than the cars I had when I first got my driving licence.
“For me, driving an EV is a responsible choice. This is now I try to do my part.
“Electric vehicles represent a shift towards a sustainability-focused mindset. I am proud of having fully embraced electric mobility with the Nissan Leaf as my daily car.”
New research from Nissan shows Guardiola is not alone: across Europe, 88% of EV drivers are happy with their electric driving experience – and almost 8 in 10 admit it is better than expected.
