New Maserati GranTurismo EV teased

The famous Maserati GranTurismo GT car is to be replaced soon – by an all-electric model, the iconic Italian brand’s first pure EV

Maserati is taking to the streets with prototype versions of its all-new GranTurismo – and has confirmed the new car will be 100% electric.

The new GranTurismo GT car will officially debut in 2022 and will be the first pure EV from the famous Italian luxury brand.

Maserati is remaining tight-lipped on technical details, but did tease the car’s distinctive EV soundtrack earlier this year.
It is also understood the styling may take cues from the beautiful Maserati Alfieri concept car revealed in 2016.

“The prototype cars are currently undergoing a period of intensive road and circuit testing, in various conditions of use, to acquire vital data for the preparation of the final setup,” said Maserati.

“The next full electric models will have a distinctive signature sound, already a unique attribute of all Maserati cars equipped with traditional combustion engines.

“Customers will therefore benefit from 100% electric propulsion vehicles that will combine driving pleasure, comfort and performance with a unique and unmistakable sound.”

The car was photographed on the streets of Modena in Italy in one of its first forays out of the Maserati Innovation Lab where it is being developed.

Now Maserati has gone official with the new GranTurismo, look forward to hearing plenty more about the all-new electric GT car in coming months…
