Targeted improvements for luxurious DS 3 extend driving range by nearly seven percent.
DS Automobiles has announced a host of updates for its popular electric compact SUV.
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense will now be capable of travelling up to 212 miles when fully charged.
This represents a considerable improvement in range of nearly seven percent compared to the existing DS 3 Crossback.
DS has targeted specific components to make real-world improvements to its electric SUV, which was first launched in 2019.
In particular, the heat pump fitted to the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense has gained a moisture sensor for improved efficiency. Fitted as standard, the heat pump uses compression to create warm air for ventilation.
DS will also fit new 17-inch A-rated tyres to the E-Tense. Developed by Continental, the EcoContact 6 Q tyres decrease levels of rolling resistance thanks to an improved rubber compound.
As an added bonus, noise levels from the new tyres are apparently also reduced.
Finally, DS has turned to its successful Formula E racing outfit to make other improvements.
DS Performance and the DS Techeetah team offered suggestions on ways to perfect the gear ratio used by the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense.
The revised DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is on sale now, priced from £31,500 including the £2,500 Plug-in Car Grant contribution.
DS reports that 40 percent of its UK customers have bought an electric or hybrid model in 2021. The brand plans to sell electric models only from 2024 onwards.
