BMW reveals high-performance iX M60 electric SUV

With more than 600hp, the iX M60 is the most powerful version of BMW’s flagship electric car.

A flagship version of the iX electric SUV has been announced by BMW.

Badged iX M60, the new model is said to combine three of BMW’s core ranges: electric ‘i’ vehicles, ‘X’ SUVs, and ‘M’ performance cars.

Along with a hefty price tag, BMW promises a blend of speed, luxury and impressive electric driving range.

A peak output of 619hp, combined with 811lb ft of torque, means the iX M60 packs a considerable punch.

BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system helps it accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155mph. The iX M60 is claimed to deliver a ‘hallmark BMW M driving experience’ with handling ‘agility and precision’.

Dual-axle air suspension is fitted as standard, featuring automatic level control and a tuned stability control system.

Lightweight materials and improved aerodynamics will also contribute to the M60’s range when fully charged. Official test figures suggest the potential to cover up to 357 miles.

Prices for the iX M60 start at £111,905 in the UK, making it considerably more expensive than the £69,905 asked for the regular iX.

However, buyers will enjoy a standard specification that includes 22-inch alloy wheels, soft-close doors, laser headlights and a Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound audio system.

Helping the iX M60 stand out from other models will be M-branded blue brake calipers. M logos can also be found in the new high-gloss black or titanium bronze finish on the front side panels, and at the rear.

The iX M60 goes into production at BMW’s Dingolfing factory, and has its full UK launch in summer 2022.
