All new Kia electric cars to use prefix ‘EV’

Kia is literally just going EV with the naming convention for all future BEVs, starting with the next-generation EV6

Kia will use the prefix ‘EV’ in the name of every pure electric car from now on – starting with the dramatic-looking EV6 it’s teased ahead of a full reveal this spring.

EV will be followed by a number corresponding to the car’s position in the line-up.

The new EV naming approach, says Kia, brings simplicity and consistency to its upcoming range of electric cars, no matter where in the world they are sold.

EV6 is the first Kia to be developed on the company’s dedicated EV platform, called E-GMP.

And as the dramatic teaser images suggest, it’s the first designed under a new design philosophy called ‘movement that inspires’, with the aim of creating “bold, original and inventive electric vehicles,” said Kia head of design Karim Habib.

“It has been designed to inspire every journey by offering an instinctive and natural experience that improves the daily lives of our customers, and provide user ownership that is simple, intuitive and integrated.”

Kia will reveal the EV6 to the world during the first quarter of 2021: come back soon for more…
