Revised Hyundai Kona Electric to cost from £30,125

Hyundai has facelifted the Kona Electric and has confirmed prices for the refreshed model will start from £30,125 – or £297 a month

The Hyundai Kona Electric has been facelifted and the firm has now confirmed prices will start from £30,125.

This is once the Plug-in Car Grant is deducted, and is for the entry-level SE Connect.

Hyundai has also launched a range of finance deals with the SE Connect costing from £297 a month on a four-year PCP.

This requires customers to place a £4,720 deposit – but Hyundai itself adds in an extra £1,750.

First introduced in 2018, the facelifted 2021 Kona Electric has been given a comprehensive makeover, including a Tesla-style closed front grille, LED running lights and crisper headlights.

There are new air inlets at the front of the wheelarches to help improve aerodynamics, while alloy wheels, rear bumper and rear lamps are all new.

Inside, there’s a new 10.25-inch driver’s instrument cluster, and the high-end 10.25-inch touchscreen sat nav system has been standardised.

Hyundai offers the Kona Electric with a choice of two powertrains: a 136hp model with a 39.2kWh battery and a 189-mile range, or a 204hp variant with a 64kWh battery and 300-mile range.

The 2021 Kona Electric can use 100kW rapid chargers, giving 80% charge in 47 minutes, while a home wall box gives a full charge in as little as six hours.

“Kona Electric has been a fundamental layer in the UK’s fast-growing electric vehicle market,” said Hyundai UK MD Ashley Andrew, “and the latest updates see us continue to offer customers a truly viable fully electric model that meets their expectations in terms of cost, range and equipment levels.”

The Kona Electric is well equipped even in entry-level SE Connect guise. Included are sat nav, rear parking sensors with rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control with stop-go functionality.

The Premium adds full LED headlights and rear lights, heated front seats and steering wheel, blind spot collision assist, wireless smartphone charging and power-fold door mirrors.

A new range-topping Ultimate model has been added for 2021. This features electric leather seats, ventilated front and heated rear seats, electric sunroof, head-up display and the semi-autonomous Highway Drive Assist function.
