Citroen to bring Ami Cargo Electric van to UK

The tiny all-electric Citroen Ami will be brought to the UK in commercial Cargo specification.

Following its announcement that the electric Ami will be sold in the UK, Citroen has confirmed the Ami Cargo van is coming, too.

Set to launch during 2022, the Ami Cargo will be aimed at business owners and urban delivery drivers.

Although the diminutive city van will be left-hand drive, Citroen says it will be adapted for the British market.

The regular Ami is sold as a two-seater, but the Ami Cargo ditches the passenger space for a bespoke storage area.

A seven-part polypropylene module adapts to suit different loads, and offers up to 260 litres (and 140 kg) of storage space. This builds on the Ami’s existing capacity, creating a total of 400 litres available throughout the interior.

Citroen fits a vertical partition inside the Ami Cargo’s cabin, designed to protect the driver from loads shifting around.

A secondary modular shelf can also be installed, which can function as a desk. There’s also an adjustable floor to accommodate larger items.

Like the regular Ami, the Cargo model comes equipped with a 5.5kWh battery pack. This offers the potential for up to 46 miles of driving, and can be recharged in three hours.

In particular, Citroen expects the Ami Cargo to appeal to those working in urban areas. Being fully electric makes it exempt from Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) charges.

Those interested in the Ami Cargo can place a refundable £250 reservation deposit with Citroen. Exact prices will be confirmed closer to the launch date.

It follows the successful reservation scheme for the passenger Ami, which saw more than 1,400 private customers register their interest.
